Writing Center Visits

Sept. 17: I asked for help with how to make my ideas flow throughout the reading response. Rion Smith responded to me. He asked me questions that got me out of the writer's block and helped smooth out my work.

Sept. 21st: My Halo post was oddly worded but I did not know exactly how to word it differently at the time. I only needed a few sentence revisions and it made the whole post much easier to read.

Oct. 5th: On my blog my post about the Wii U seemed vague and unappealing, mostly preaching to the choir (other gamers) about it. Then I went in and got help with making for a broader audience that was not aware of the Wii U or how it could be a much better family involving experience.

Oct. 29th: In my TED talks blog post I could not find a good quote to run with. Then it was suggested what do I look for in games, and I knew what to get then, it was all about the rewards in video games

Nov. 2nd: I required help with my Mass Effect 2 review. I felt as if someone who hasn't played the series would just be confused. Putting context in, but no a wall of text, i got one example and that was all I needed, Where did Shepard come from?

Nov. 4th: The reading response for the water bottle toxicity stumped me. Luckily it was short enough for me to ask for help with all of it. I used to many commas, Cheramie Johnson said to put a semi-colon in its place. I used parts per billion too often, she recommended to put (ppb) after the first use to reduce some unnecessary length

Nov. 17th: My thesis was not broad enough to be able to get enough in it. I went in and was able to get a quick revision that solved my problem quite easily

Nov. 29th: I needed help with my topic sentences, they didn't seem right to me. I went in and found out that I put too many facts in the topic sentences when I need more of my argument in it. I just moved the context into the next couple of sentences.

Dec. 1st: My body paragraphs were too vague and not quite in unity. I went in to get help with narrowing down the focus of my paragraphs. A lot of the time I just go on without stopping and that visit taught me it does not need to lengthy to get the point across. As a result my paragraphs became much more concise.

Dec. 11th: I went in and was confused on how to use the peer review on my body paragraphs. I was not sure what to include from the review, after it was clear that should take away what I like from the review and not include every revision.

Dec. 13th: I went back in about my topic sentences, they still didn't have a strong opinion in them. I removed more of the context into other sentences and it really helped.
